Toronto Raptors point guard Fred VanVleet is expected to miss at least three weeks with a partial ligament injury to his left thumb, the team announced Monday.
VanVleet will wear a splint for the next three weeks before being re-evaluated.
The second-year backup guard is averaging 10.5 points and 4.6 assists while shooting 36.6 percent from 3-point distance in 51 appearances with the Raptors this season.
It was reported earlier Monday that the Raptors are signing guard Jeremy Lin after he reaches a buyout with the Atlanta Hawks.
The Raptors also shipped off point guard Delon Wright in a deadline deal that landed them Marc Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies.
Toronto currently sits second in the Eastern Conference with a 41-16 record.
