Westbrook: 'I've been blessed with the talent to not give a f---' about criticism
Any criticism directed at Russell Westbrook is simply dirt off the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar's shoulder.
"I've been blessed with the talent to not give a f---," said Westbrook on Wednesday, according to ESPN's Royce Young. "And I don't, regardless of what happens."
Putting up triple-double numbers hasn't been enough to shield the 30-year-old point guard from mixed reviews on his brand of basketball. His shot selection, stat-padding, efficiency, and attitude are constantly under the microscope, but Westbrook won't allow any negativity to dictate how he conducts himself.
"It doesn't change the way I live, doesn't change the way I think," he added. "I have an unbelievable family, great friends, unbelievable life, unbelievable job, make a lot of money in my job. I'm extremely blessed, thankful, humble, haven't been in trouble, don't cause no problems. I'm perfectly fine. I'm living the best life, I can't complain one bit.
"He say, she say, what somebody say about me, what they say about shooting, passing, dribbling, I don't really care. Every year it's something. They gotta make up something about me. Which is fine. It's good. One thing I always know is, if they're not talking about you, then you're not doing something right."
Westbrook is currently in the midst of a historic streak, recording a triple-double in an NBA-record 10 straight outings for the 37-19 Thunder. He's also averaging a triple-double (21.2 points, 11.1 rebounds, 11.2 assists) for the third year in a row despite his lowest usage rate since 2009-10.
