Thunder's Diallo captures Slam Dunk crown, beats Smith Jr. in finals
Hamidou Diallo is this year's slam dunk king.
The unheralded Oklahoma City Thunder shooting guard won the Slam Dunk contest on All-Star Saturday Night, defeating the New York Knicks' Dennis Smith Jr. in the final round.

Needing a score of 43 or better on his final attempt to take home the hardware, Diallo sealed the win by leaping over rapper Quavo to throw down a nasty two-handed flush, which earned a 45.

Using Quavo for assistance wasn't the original plan, though.
"It was great," Diallo said of winning the competition, according to ESPN's Tim Bontemps. "Dennis stole my third dunk. I was going to use D-Wade last. That was my favorite player growing up. But it all worked out."
