LaVar says Lonzo covered up BBB tattoo when company was set to fold
LaVar Ball, the father of Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball, explained the thought process behind his son's recent decision to tattoo over the Big Baller Brand logo that was previously on his arm.
In the midst of rumblings that the Ball family's apparel company was in peril due to a soured business relationship with former partner Alan Foster, LaVar informed the family of his intention to close up shop, according to TMZ Sports.
At that point, Lonzo apparently decided to cover up the BBB tattoo by replacing it with new body art:
However, LaVar soon had a change of heart.
"You realize something," he said. "I slept on it, I'm like, 'Man, why am I shutting down my stuff? That's my family brand. It ain't got nothing to do with (Foster)."
By the time LaVar reversed course, the ink was already dry on Lonzo's new art. Still, LaVar thinks there's value in Lonzo taking the family logo off his body, as NBA rules prohibit players sporting visible corporate logos.
"Lonzo had to cover that Triple-B up anyway," LaVar said. "You can't play with no band-aid when you not even hurt. It feels weird playing like that."
