The Los Angeles Lakers fired head athletic trainer Marco Nunez on Wednesday, sources told ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
Nunez had been in the lead role since 2016 after joining the team as an assistant trainer in 2008.
The Lakers lost 212 games to injury this season, ninth-most in the league. Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and Rajon Rondo each missed more than 30 games, and the famously healthy LeBron James missed 18 out of 19 games from late January to late February en route to a career-low 55 appearances.
