Kyrie following elimination: 'For me, it's just moving on to the next thing'
If Wednesday was Kyrie Irving's last game as a member of the Boston Celtics, he did not go out in a blaze of glory.
The point guard shot 28.5 percent from the floor - including 1-of-7 from deep - in Boston's 25-point defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks. He also only dished out one assist and turned the ball over three times.
Afterward, questions shifted to his future amid increasing speculation he will opt out of the final year of his contract and leave Boston via free agency.
"For me, it’s just moving on to the next thing, and just seeing where that ends up," Irving told reporters postgame.
When pressed on his plans, he wouldn't divulge much.
"I'll be honest with you, I'm just trying to get back to Boston safely, spend time with my friends and family, decompress, do what human beings do," he said.
When asked by another reporter if he felt talk of his future contributed to his poor play against the Bucks, Irving replied, "no."
Critics have hammered Irving over the last week for a perceived lack of urgency. His laid-back style was on further display taking questions Wednesday.
"You take the ass-whoopin' (the Bucks) handed us and you move on," Irving added.
