Shop owner drove 10 hours to hand-deliver Dell Curry jersey to Drake
Tracking down a vintage Dell Curry Toronto Raptors jersey was no easy task for Drake.
Action Network's Darren Rovell shared the story Friday how Drake was able to pull off the ultimate troll move against the Golden State Warriors in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, and it involved some begging and a 10-hour drive from New York to Toronto.
Al Martiniello, the owner of "Select Vintage" in Brooklyn, received a call Tuesday at 1 a.m. ET from Drake's stylist asking if he had a Dell Raptors jersey. He didn't, but his friend Evan Flores was able to track down an autographed one a few hours later.
Obtaining the jersey proved to be a little more difficult, as its owner, Benjamin Weil, had purchased it from a Raptors player six years ago and was reluctant to part with it.
"He loves Dell," Martiniello said. "And it wasn't about money, but I did have to ask him, if I could convince you to sell what's the lowest number you would take?"
Martiniello and Weil were eventually able to reach a deal, but they didn't disclose the sale price to Rovell. Martiniello then made the trek to Toronto with Flores to hand off the jersey to Drake's people in time for tip-off Thursday.
