Raptors now betting favorites to sign Kawhi Leonard
There's been a shake-up in the odds to sign star forward Kawhi Leonard on the free-agent market.
Leonard was originally favored to land with the Los Angeles Clippers. But as of Wednesday afternoon, there's a new front-runner: the Toronto Raptors.
Caesars Sportsbook in Las Vegas originally opened the Clippers at -200 and the Raptors at +125 to ink Leonard this summer. The Clippers are thought to be an ideal scenario, given Leonard would play in his hometown for a franchise on the upswing. The Lakers are also in the mix - albeit back in the odds - though it's been a drama-filled soap opera for the franchise since the end of the season.
Leonard's currently in the midst of his first season with the Raptors, and all he's done is pilot the team to the NBA Finals. He's been the centerpiece of a historic season and with the way the Raptors ran through the East, he could have them on a similar trajectory for years to come if he stays put.
The reshuffling in the odds isn't a clear indicator of where he'll sign, but it might give Toronto fans a cause for optimism.
