Looney officially available to play in Game 4
Golden State Warriors center Kevon Looney is available to play in Game 4 against the Toronto Raptors. Looney was previously ruled out indefinitely after suffering a non-displaced first costal cartilage fracture in Game 2.
"Kevon's going to give it a go tonight," head coach Steve Kerr said, according to 95.7 The Game. "Further evaluation, a second opinion, and then a lot of research and making sure that there's no long-term risk involved with him playing.
"And it all checked out and he's dying to play and so we'll give it a shot and see what he's got."
After he was initially presumed to miss the rest of The Finals, Looney was unexpectedly listed as questionable Friday. He was spotted putting up shots pregame before Kerr confirmed his status.
ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reported earlier Friday that the center was lobbying the team to let him play because doctors didn't believe his injury could get worse.
Looney, 23, has been a productive spark off the bench this postseason as the Warriors chase a third consecutive NBA championship. He's averaging 7.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in 18 games played these playoffs.
