Durant to practice Sunday, Kerr hopeful he'll play in Game 5

Kevin Durant will practice on Sunday for the Golden State Warriors, and head coach Steve Kerr is hopeful he will play in Monday's do-or-die Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

"He'll get some extra work in with some of our younger players and we'll gauge it from there," Kerr said.

When asked if he was more hopeful of a return with the latest development, Kerr replied, "Yeah ... what he's going to do today, he hasn't done."

Durant hasn't played in over a month after straining his right calf in Game 5 of the Warriors' second-round series against the Houston Rockets. Golden State has desperately missed his length and two-way play against the Toronto Raptors in the Finals, and trail the series 3-1 going into Monday.

Earlier Sunday, a report indicated that Durant's extended absence was causing "confusion" and "angst" among some of his teammates. If he doesn't return before the end of the Finals, Durant may have played his last game for the team. He's widely expected to opt out of the final year of his contract and enter free agency June 30.
