Report: Knicks expect to meet Kawhi, Durant at start of free agency

The New York Knicks apparently won't be wasting any time when it comes to their offseason to-do list.

The Knicks are expecting to meet with both Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard when free agency begins on June 30, according to The Athletic's Frank Isola.

Afterward, the team is planning to travel to Los Angeles to meet with a second tier of free agents, Isola added.

The Knicks may not travel far to meet with Durant. The 30-year old forward is said to be in New York with business manager Rich Kleiman as they evaluate free-agency options.

Durant reportedly declined to exercise his $31.5-million player option on Wednesday, allowing him to enter free agency this offseason. He's expected to miss the majority - if not all - of next season after rupturing his Achilles in the NBA Finals.

It's unclear where the Knicks expect to hold a meeting with Leonard, who will become a free agent just weeks after helping the Toronto Raptors win their first NBA championship. It was reported Tuesday that Leonard is tentatively scheduled to meet with the Los Angeles Clippers on July 2, though the location of that meeting is also unknown.

Meanwhile, Leonard is also reported to be seriously considering re-signing with the defending champion Raptors.

Teams will be permitted to speak with free agents as soon as 6 p.m. ET on June 30. However, contracts can't be made official until the league's moratorium is lifted on July 6 at 12 p.m. ET.
