Report: Klay could quickly re-sign with Warriors if offered max
Klay Thompson is expected to immediately re-sign with the Golden State Warriors if he's offered a five-year, $190-million max contract when the two sides meet after free agency begins, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Thompson suffered an ACL tear in Game 6 of the NBA Finals and will likely miss most or all of the 2019-20 campaign.
Despite the injury, Thompson remains among the best two-way players in the Association, and he'll receive interest from several organizations hoping to land one of the offseason's marquee free agents. The Clippers have been linked to him, and they have enough money to add two max contract free agents.
The 29-year-old is a career 41.9 percent 3-point shooter, and he averaged 21.5 points and 3.8 rebounds this past season.
