Report: Kawhi to grant Lakers meeting in L.A., Raptors will go last
Kawhi Leonard will reportedly grant the Lakers a meeting in Los Angeles once free agency begins on June 30, sources told Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.
Leonard's current team, the Toronto Raptors, are expected to get the last meeting among teams visiting the free agent in L.A. during the first week of July, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The reigning Finals MVP is also reported to be meeting with the Los Angeles Clippers on July 2. The New York Knicks are also expected to arrange a sit-down at some point.
The Lakers put themselves in a position to step up their chase for Leonard by trading Moritz Wagner, Isaac Bonga, and Jemerrio Jones to the Washington Wizards on Thursday. The cap-clearing swap, combined with Anthony Davis apparently waiving his $4-million trade kicker, would give Los Angeles approximately $32 million in cap room - just enough to sign a max free agent.
