Report: Celtics, Kanter agree to 2-year, $10M contract

Free agent Enes Kanter and the Boston Celtics have agreed to a two-year, $10-million deal with a player option, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

The Celtics were in the market for center depth after losing Al Horford in free agency on Sunday and trading Aron Baynes two week ago. While Kanter won't replicate that duo's defense, he gives Boston a post-up threat who averaged 13.7 points with the Portland Trail Blazers and New York Knicks this past season.

Kanter said in a text to ESPN's Marc J. Spears that he was considering re-signing with the Blazers but the team gave him only a few minutes to make a decision.

Kanter is coming off a four-year, $70-million contract he signed in 2015.
