The Los Angeles Lakers remain interested in Kyrie Irving and will pursue him after opening up enough cap space for a max offer, sources told The New York Times' Marc Stein on Thursday.
The Brooklyn Nets have reportedly been the favorites to land Irving as it becomes increasingly clear the perennial All-Star will leave the Boston Celtics after two seasons.
L.A. freed up space by reportedly dealing Mo Wagner, Isaac Bonga, and Jemerrio Jones to the Washington Wizards on Thursday as part of the Anthony Davis trade, making it a three-team deal including the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Lakers are reportedly expected to also chase Klay Thompson and Kawhi Leonard with their $32 million in space.
