The Charlotte Hornets are expected to acquire guard Terry Rozier on a three-year, $58-million contract via sign-and-trade with the Boston Celtics, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Rozier had emerged as a key part of the Celtics' backcourt rotation over the past two seasons, averaging 10.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.
In particular, Rozier elevated his game during the Celtics' 2018 playoff run. With Kyrie Irving sidelined due to injury, the 25-year-old Louisville product stepped into the limelight, tallying 16.5 points, 5.7 assists, and 5.3 rebounds over 19 games - all starts.
Rozier will have big shoes to fill. The Hornets are expected to lose All-Star Kemba Walker to the Celtics once free agency opens.
