Report: Warriors trade Iguodala to Grizzlies

The Golden State Warriors have traded forward Andre Iguodala and a 2024 first-round pick to the Memphis Grizzlies, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The acquired Warriors pick is top-four protected in 2024, top-one protected in 2025, and unprotected in 2026.

Golden State has been forced to shift its focus after failing to re-sign Kevin Durant and instead reportedly acquired D'Angelo Russell via sign-and-trade.

Iguodala was informed last week that he could be traded as salary relief if Durant were to leave, sources told Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.

The Warriors needed to shed salary in order to accommodate Russell's expensive four-year, $117-million deal and Klay Thompson's new five-year, $190-million max contract

The Grizzlies will acquire Iguodala's expiring $17.2-million deal into the $25.1- million trade exception that was created as part of the Mike Conley deal with the Utah Jazz, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.

Iguodala now becomes a potential buyout candidate if he doesn't want to be a part of the Grizzlies' rebuilding effort and could potentially join his former agent and current Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka in L.A., according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.
