Point guard Elfrid Payton and the New York Knicks have agreed to a two-year, $16-million contract, Payton's agents told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The cited contract is identical to the one the Knicks gave guard Wayne Ellington earlier Monday. New York appears to be bolstering its roster with short-term deals, as it's also inked Julius Randle, Bobby Portis, and Taj Gibson to similar pacts.
Payton averaged 12.8 points and a career-high 9.2 assists for the New Orleans Pelicans this past season.
