Rockets, Tyson Chandler agree to 1-year contract

Free-agent center Tyson Chandler has agreed to a one-year deal with the Houston Rockets, his agent told the New York Times' Marc Stein.

Houston is adding veteran role players after Thursday's blockbuster acquisition of Russell Westbrook for Chris Paul. The team is reportedly interested in Andre Iguodala as well.

The addition of Chandler likely ends Nene's tenure with the Rockets. The Brazilian big man declined his $3.8-million player option last month to become an unrestricted free agent.

Chandler, who turns 37 in October, is entering his 19th NBA season. He averaged 3.4 points and 5.6 rebounds in 48 games for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018-19.
