Report: Ex-NBA guard Telfair out on bail after appealing prison sentence
Ten-year NBA veteran Sebastian Telfair was released from prison on $500,000 bail while his legal team appeals his sentence for the possession of illegal firearms, reports TMZ Sports, citing court documents.
In June 2017, Telfair and another man were arrested in Brooklyn for possessing a cache of illegal materials.
In August 2019, a judge sentenced the former lottery pick to a three-and-a-half-year prison stint.
While the appeal process unfolds, Telfair will reportedly wear an ankle monitor and be under house arrest from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. each day, according to TMZ Sports. He must also surrender his passport and remain within New York City.
Telfair last appeared in the NBA during the 2014-15 season. In 564 career appearances, the 6-foot point guard averaged 7.4 points and 3.5 assists per game. Sports salary website Spotrac estimates his career NBA earnings at just under $19.2 million.
