G League announces new format, $100K prize for Winter Showcase
The 2019 G League Winter Showcase will feature a handful of new rules, including a lucrative winner's purse, the NBA announced Wednesday.
All 28 G League teams will be seeded based on their performance during the first 12 games of the regular season. The top four seeds will compete in the championship bracket where a $100,000 prize awaits the players on the winning roster.
Each team will play two games, regardless of whether they're in the championship bracket or not, allowing NBA scouting departments to evaluate the entirety of the G League between Dec. 19-22 in host city Las Vegas.
Furthermore, the games in the Showcase won't strictly be standalone exhibitions. The records compiled during tournament play will be added to each team's regular-season record.
