Report: Anderson returning to Rockets on partially guaranteed deal
The Houston Rockets are reuniting with a familiar face.
Power forward Ryan Anderson agreed to a "significantly" partially guaranteed deal with the Rockets, sources told The Athletics's Shams Charania.
Anderson, a stretch-four, previously played for the franchise for two seasons between 2016 and 2018.
He split last season between the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat and appeared in a combined 25 contests, averaging 2.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 0.8 assists while shooting 22.5% from beyond the arc. In his two seasons in Houston, Anderson shot 39.6% from deep while posting averages of 11.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 0.9 assists.
The 31-year-old adds an intriguing piece to the Rockets' projected frontcourt rotation. Beyond P.J. Tucker - who is already undersized against traditional power forwards at 6-foot-6 - Houston lacks a dependable mix of size and experience at the four. Swingmen Danuel House and Gary Clark are penciled in as Tucker's primary backups, while former first overall pick Anthony Bennett is also competing for a spot on the roster.
