Warriors' Cauley-Stein out for training camp with foot strain
Golden State Warriors center Willie Cauley-Stein will miss the team's training camp after suffering a left mid-foot sprain, general manager Bob Myers announced on Monday, according to Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Cauley-Stein will also be sidelined for the team's five October preseason contests, beginning with an Oct. 5 tilt against the Los Angeles Lakers in their first-ever game at the newly opened Chase Center.
In his absence, head coach Steve Kerr said Kevon Looney is likely to start at center, according to ESPN's Marc J. Spears.
Cauley-Stein signed a reported two-year, $4.4-million deal with the Warriors this past summer that's said to contain a player option in the second season.
The 2015 sixth overall pick spent the first four years of his career with the Sacramento Kings, averaging 10.1 points and 6.4 rebounds over 295 games.
