It didn't take long for Marcus Morris to make his on-court intensity felt in a new uniform.

Less than three quarters into his preseason debut with the New York Knicks - an eventual 104-99 victory over the Washington Wizards - Morris was ejected after getting into a scuffle with small forward Justin Anderson.

After exchanging words, Morris violently swung his elbows in Anderson's direction, then appeared to bounce the ball off the latter's forehead.

Morris admitted postgame that his actions were ill-advised but said he isn't worried about a potential suspension.

"It was a bad move and unprofessional. My team didn’t deserve that. But like I said in the beginning, we're not taking any shit," Morris said, according to ESPN.

He added: "Am I concerned (about a suspension)? I mean, if it's preseason, I mean I would be concerned if it was regular season. ... If that was the regular season I wouldn't have done that. My team needs me."

What Morris may have failed to realize is that any suspension would be served to begin the regular season, according to the New York Post's Marc Berman.

Knicks head coach David Fizdale is wary of Morris taking things too far but expects the 30-year-old's never-back-down mentality to have a positive impact on his players this season.

"It’s Marcus Morris," Fizdale said. "Our team will embody his spirit, but he understands it can’t be to the detriment. He told me he didn’t want to hurt the kid and shouldn’t have made the play. At the same time, he does have an edge to him and we want to keep that edge."

The Knicks will look to improve to 2-0 this preseason when they take on the Wizards on Friday in the second half of the teams' home-and-home set.
