Report: Raptors to be among top pursuers of Antetokounmpo in 2021
Reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo will have no shortage of suitors if he reaches unrestricted free agency after the 2020-21 season, and the Toronto Raptors are likely to be chief among them, sources told The Athletic's John Hollinger.
The Raptors' front office will reportedly refrain from making any moves that would impact its ability to offer the Milwaukee Bucks superstar a maximum contract should the opportunity arise.
However, the 24-year-old Antetokounmpo has the ability to nip the Raptors' reported interest in the bud; he is eligible to sign a long-term extension to remain in Milwaukee as early as next summer.
Antetokounmpo has rapidly developed into a perennial All-NBA player and one of the most dynamic presences in the league. Since the start of the 2016-17 season, the Greek national has averaged 25.7 points, 10.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game.
