Luka ties Jordan for longest streak of 20-5-5 games since ABA-NBA merger

Luka Doncic continues to redefine what it means to succeed as an NBA sophomore, accomplishing another rare milestone on Saturday.

The Dallas Mavericks star registered his 18th consecutive game with at least 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists against the New Orleans Pelicans, tying Michael Jordan for the longest such streak since the ABA-NBA merger.

Doncic joins Jordan and Oscar Robertson as the only players with 20-5-5 stat lines in at least 18 straight games.

Robertson recorded four longer streaks with that stat line during his playing days before the merger, including one that spanned 29 games, according to Mavs PR.

Doncic checked out against the Pelicans in the third quarter with 26 points, nine assists, and six rebounds in 26 minutes. Dallas went on to blow out New Orleans by 46 points, marking the Pelicans' largest regular-season defeat in franchise history, according to ESPN's Andrew Lopez.

The Slovenian recently became the third player in history to average a triple-double over a calendar month. He also has registered an NBA-record 15 career triple-doubles before turning 21, per Basketball-Reference.

The wunderkind entered Saturday's contest averaging 30.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 9.2 assists. He has the opportunity to pass Jordan against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday.
