Washington Wizards forward Rui Hachimura will miss the next five games with a groin injury, the team announced Tuesday.

Hachimura will be re-evaluated when the team returns from its upcoming four-game road trip. The 21-year-old rookie suffered the injury during the first half of Monday's win over the Detroit Pistons when teammate Isaac Bonga accidentally kicked him below the belt. Hachimura exited the game and did not return.

After Wednesday's home tilt against the Chicago Bulls, the Wizards travel for road contests against the Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks, and the Pistons. Washington returns home to face the Knicks on Dec. 28.

Hachimura is averaging 13.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists this season after Washington selected him ninth overall in June's draft. He made history as the first Japanese player ever selected in the first round.
