Kings' Dedmon confirms trade request, league reportedly investigating
Dewayne Dedmon has confirmed a report that he wants the Sacramento Kings to trade him.
"I would like to be traded," the center told The Sacramento Bee's Jason Anderson on Sunday. "I haven't been playing, so I would like to go somewhere where my talents are appreciated."
Dedmon's statement has prompted the NBA to begin investigating whether he should be fined for making a public trade request, sources told Yahoo's Chris Haynes.
The league's collective bargaining agreement prohibits public trade demands. The NBA fined Anthony Davis $50,000 last season after his agent, Rich Paul, acknowledged Davis' camp had requested a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans.
Dedmon has logged DNP-CDs in 10 of the Kings' last 12 games, with Richaun Holmes getting the bulk of the minutes at the five. Dedmon didn't see any floor time in this past weekend's losses to the Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns, even with power forward Marvin Bagley III missing both contests.
Dedmon inked a three-year, $40-million contract with Sacramento this past summer, though the final year is not fully guaranteed. The 30-year-old 7-footer is averaging 4.8 points in 13.6 minutes per game this season.
