Report: Hawks interested in Rockets' Capela
The Atlanta Hawks are one of several teams that have inquired about Houston Rockets center Clint Capela, The Athletic's Shams Charania reports.
However, the Rockets are unlikely to move the big man unless they're presented with an overwhelming offer, Charania notes.
Capela - who's been ruled out for Friday's game against the Dallas Mavericks with a heel injury - is in the second season of a five-year, $90-million contract he signed in July 2018. The sixth-year pro is averaging 13.9 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks in 39 games this season.
In addition to Capela, Atlanta is also reportedly interested in Sacramento Kings center Dewayne Dedmon and Oklahoma City Thunder big man Steven Adams, Charania adds.
Dedmon signed a three-year, $40-million deal with the Kings this past offseason but has grown disgruntled with his limited minutes in head coach Luke Walton's rotation. The 30-year-old received a $50,000 fine from the NBA for making a public trade request.
As for Adams, he's owed $25.8 million this season and $27.5 million in 2020-21.
The Hawks had also been in trade talks regarding Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond, but Atlanta reportedly pulled out of discussions for the big man just over two weeks ago.
With the Hawks in need of a "more natural center," multiple teams are apparently "feeling out" Atlanta's asking price for forward John Collins, according to Charania.
Currently, the Hawks' depth at the five-spot includes Alex Len, Damian Jones, and rookie Bruno Fernando.
