Report: Collison will meet with agent to discuss potential NBA return
Retired 10-year NBA point guard Darren Collison will meet with his agent next week to decide whether he's returning to the NBA, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Collison, a Southern California native and UCLA alum, will reportedly set up meetings with the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers if he resumes his playing career.
Jeanie Buss, the Lakers' controlling owner and president, hosted the 32-year-old at Thursday's game versus the Houston Rockets:
Collison's decision to retire last summer to focus on his family and religion raised eyebrows.
"I am one of the Jehovah's Witnesses and my faith means everything to me," Collison wrote for The Undefeated in June. "I receive so much joy from volunteering to help others and participate in a worldwide ministry. The joy I feel is unmatched."
His retirement came after a productive season with the Indiana Pacers. In 76 appearances (all starts), Collison averaged 11.2 points, six assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 40.7% on 3-pointers.
Given his age and recent track record, Collision would become one of the top free agents available if he returns.
