Derrick Jones Jr. wins Slam Dunk Contest in dunk-off vs. Aaron Gordon
Derrick Jones Jr. of the Miami Heat defeated Aaron Gordon of the Orlando Magic in a dunk-off during Saturday's NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest. Jones clinched the victory after Gordon failed to completely clear the head of 7-foot-5 Boston Celtics center Tacko Fall on his final attempt.
Gordon scored a 47 on that dunk, making Jones the Heat's first champion in the event since Harold Miner in 1993. Jones took off from just over the foul line before delivering a windmill in his clinching jam.
Jones' best dunk came in Round 2 - earning him a perfect 50.
Gordon's second-to-last dunk evoked memories of his 2016 performance in Toronto. Though he scored 50 on it, it wasn't enough.
Gordon also took a beating on Twitter after having three TikTok influencers dance as part of his warm-up routine ahead of a dunk over Chance the Rapper.
