Grizzlies sign Jontay Porter, younger brother of Nuggets' Porter Jr.
The Memphis Grizzlies have signed free-agent big man Jontay Porter, the team announced Sunday.
His agent told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that it's a multi-year deal. The club expects Porter, who is recovering from a long-term knee injury, to be ready for training camp next season.
The 20-year-old played alongside his older brother, Denver Nuggets rookie Michael Porter Jr., at Missouri during the 2017-18 season. The 6-foot-11 forward averaged 9.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.7 blocks across 33 games while hitting 36.4% of his 3-point attempts.
Porter tore his right ACL and MCL during a preseason scrimmage in October 2018 and missed the 2018-19 college campaign. While rehabbing the injury, he tore his ACL again in March 2019.
He declared for the NBA draft that year but wasn't selected.
