Report: Mitchell is 2nd Jazz player to test positive for coronavirus

Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell has tested positive for the new coronavirus, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The development comes less than 24 hours after teammate Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19, which is caused by the new coronavirus. According to Wojnarowski, Jazz players privately said that Gobert had been careless in the locker room, touching other players and their belongings.

Mitchell is the only other member of the Jazz organization to test positive after all team players and personnel were screened Wednesday night, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

The 23-year-old posted an update Thursday on Instagram:

Mitchell was in attendance at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City on Wednesday night before the scheduled Jazz-Thunder game. That contest was ultimately postponed when Gobert, who was offsite at a local hospital, tested positive for COVID-19. The entire Jazz team was then quarantined in the arena and tested.

Earlier this week, Gobert joked with reporters by touching microphones at the end of his media availability after the NBA had put distance restrictions in place.
