The NBA has requested that individuals who've recovered from COVID-19 consider donating their plasma as part of an ongoing effort to establish a potential treatment, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The league is reportedly supporting the National COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma Project (CCPP19) through its "NBA Together" initiative.
The CCPP19 is a "group of physicians and scientists from 34 institutions in 17 states who have self-organized for the purpose of investigating the use of convalescent plasma in the current COVID-19 pandemic," according to the project's website.
There is hope that the antibodies developed in people who've recovered from COVID-19 could be used to treat active cases, according to The Atlantic's Sarah Zhang.
