Report: Disney World a possibility for NBA games
The Walt Disney World Resort property in Orlando is a possible playing ground for the NBA to finish its season if it becomes safe to do so, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The league is reportedly keeping different scenarios in mind.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday that most of the state will enter "Phase 1" of a reopening process on May 4, according to Erin Dobrzyn of Click Orlando. However, that won't include Miami-Dade or nearby Palm Beach counties due to a higher rate of COVID-19 diagnoses. The state's government also said sports arenas will remain closed during the first phase of the reopening procedures.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver said April 17 that too much remained unknown about the global coronavirus pandemic to suggest a return date for the league. It has been reported the NBA is considering multiple possibilities, including a finish to the 2019-20 season under some type of quarantine conditions.
The league announced Monday that practice facilities in cities that eased COVID-19 restrictions could open no earlier than May 8, with guidelines regarding the number of participants.
