Giannis loves 'Greek Freak' label: 'It's a cool nickname'
Giannis Antetokounmpo is on board with fans and pundits calling him the "Greek Freak."
"First of all, the nickname is really good. I like it," the Milwaukee Bucks forward said during a radio appearance Thursday, according to ESPN's Eric Woodyard.
However, the league's reigning MVP cannot actually recall where the nickname started.
"I don't remember the first time I heard about it - it was probably my rookie year - but I really don't know who came up with it," Antetokounmpo said. "I just went on the court one day and I had like a crazy dunk or a crazy block and after that everyone started calling me the 'Greek Freak.' So it stuck by me. I love it and it's a cool nickname."
Today, the moniker has become inseparable from Antetokounmpo's identity. For instance, the 25-year-old's first signature shoe with Nike was dubbed the "Zoom Air Freak 1."
