Longtime TNT play-by-play announcer Marv Albert will not be physically present at games when the NBA returns to play at Walt Disney World in late July, he confirmed to the New York Post's Andrew Marchand.
"(Turner Sports president Jeff Zucker) said to me, 'Maybe this is something you should skip in my age bracket,'" Albert told Marchand. "I'd like to point out to you that 79 is the new 78."
The septuagenarian will instead contribute analysis remotely in order to mitigate health risks related to the COVID-19 pandemic, a Turner Sports spokesperson added.
Turner's No. 2 play-by-play announcer Kevin Harlan said earlier in June it was unlikely any TNT broadcast teams will be present in Orlando until at least the conference finals.
