Lillard turns hotel room into mini recording studio
Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard will be using some of his time inside the NBA's bubble to record new music.
Lillard, who raps under the moniker Dame D.O.L.L.A., has set up a mini recording studio inside his hotel room at Walt Disney World, according to The Associated Press. His setup includes a microphone, headphones, a laptop equipped with recording software, and an audio interface.
"I saw people saying that there would be complaints of him recording music, but I don't have any speakers. Everything is in the headphone speakers," he said. "I'm rapping out loud, but not screaming to the top of my lungs. Nobody is going to hear me rapping."
Lillard released a new single and music video titled "Home Team" on Friday, which "celebrates the strength and resilience of Black families in America" and features never-before-seen photos of his life.
