Pistons offer J. Cole a tryout
J. Cole may get his chance at an NBA career after all.
The Detroit Pistons tweeted at the prominent rapper Monday, seemingly offering him the opportunity to try out for the club whenever he's ready.
Fellow rapper Percy "Master P" Miller revealed Saturday that J. Cole, whose full name is Jermaine Lamarr Cole, had asked him for advice on what it would take to make an NBA roster.
"When I talked to J. Cole, he was like, 'You know, big dog, you did it. What do you think I would have to do to make it happen?'" said Miller, who had preseason stints with the Charlotte Hornets and Toronto Raptors in the 1990s.
"I said to get one of these NBA jerseys, it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be a lot of hate, it's gonna be a lot of people not believing in you, but you know J. Cole, he got the right size, he in the gym."
Cole, 35, wrote a piece published by The Players Tribune in July in which he revealed he had dreams of making the NBA in his youth. He did eventually step onto an NBA court in 2012 when he made an appearance in the All-Star Celebrity Game.
