Rondo, girlfriend facing assault lawsuit
A woman in Los Angeles is suing Atlanta Hawks guard Rajon Rondo and his girlfriend for assault and battery, infliction of emotional distress, and conspiracy, according to a lawsuit obtained by TMZ Sports.
The woman, Toktam Jorshari, is seeking over $1 million in damages.
According to the suit, Jorshari says Rondo "pushed and shoved" her against her vehicle during an incident in her apartment building's parking garage in July. She says Rondo's girlfriend also lives in the building.
Jorshari claims the altercation took place after she inadvertently obstructed Rondo's driver's side door while parking her car. She says she fell to the ground as a result of his shove and that the 34-year-old then gave his girlfriend a "green light" to strike her repeatedly.
Jorshari says she suffered injuries causing "permanent disability" due to the confrontation.
She also claims she's obtained security footage from the garage that captured the dispute.
Rondo denied the allegations.
"The case is meritless. I have seen the videotape," his lawyer, Mark D. Baute, told TMZ. "Mr. Rondo was polite throughout the encounter, the claimant was not wearing a mask and was unstable and rude. We look forward to defending the case and winning."
Rondo signed with the Hawks this offseason following two years with the Los Angeles Lakers.
