Pelicans' Ingram wins Most Improved Player Award
New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram was named the NBA's 2019-20 Most Improved Player, the league announced Monday.
Ingram beat out Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat and Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks for the award, finishing with 42 first-place votes from a global panel of select media.
The 22-year-old stepped up his game across the board in 2019-20, achieving career highs in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals, and 3-point percentage in his first season with the Pelicans.
Awards this campaign are based only off of play prior to the March 11 season suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic, and play in the bubble is excluded.
Prior to the hiatus, Ingram posted the first two 40-point games of his career, with a 49-point performance against the Utah Jazz on Jan. 16 the highlight. He was also named the Conference Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
