Report: Clippers to interview Lue on Saturday
The Los Angeles Clippers will interview assistant Tyronn Lue for their vacant head coaching job on Saturday, sources told the Los Angeles Times' Brad Turner.
The appointment will take place after Lue meets with the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday and before he meets with the Houston Rockets on Sunday, according to Turner.
The 43-year-old coach is considered a leading candidate for all three openings. He spent the past season as a Clippers assistant under Doc Rivers and previously worked for Pelicans general manager David Griffin with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Lue, who played 11 years in the NBA before becoming a coach, earned a reputation as a player's coach with the Cavs. Rivers' surprise departure this week leaves Lue in a "strong position" to take over, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
