AD has 'no idea' about free agency but says Lakers will 'run it right back'
Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis has offered a couple of conflicting thoughts about his future in Los Angeles after helping the franchise claim its 17th NBA championship.
When asked postgame about how he intends to navigate a potential spell in free agency this summer, Davis spoke highly of his successful season with the club but stopped short of committing long term to the Lakers.
"I have no idea. I don't know. ... I had a great time in L.A. this first year," he told reporters, according to ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. "This has been nothing but joy, nothing but amazement.
"Over the next couple of months, we'll figure it out. I mean, I'm not 100 percent sure, but that's why my agent (Rich Paul) is who he is, and we'll discuss it and figure it out."
However, in an Instagram Live appearance with teammate Quinn Cook, Davis says the Lakers will "run it right back," suggesting he could re-sign with the team.
Davis owns a player option worth approximately $28.7-million for the 2020-21 season, which the 27-year-old is all but certain to decline to secure a new max contract. He can still return to the Lakers on another deal after turning down the option, but the big man will be the most coveted free agent on the market this offseason.
