Report: Pelicans interviewing Stan Van Gundy for HC
Longtime NBA head coach Stan Van Gundy has emerged as a finalist for the New Orleans Pelicans' vacant head coach position, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 61-year-old television analyst is reportedly meeting with the team Tuesday.
Van Gundy previously served as head coach of the Miami Heat (2003-05), Orlando Magic (2007-12), and Detroit Pistons (2014-18). He was also the top basketball executive during his time with the Pistons. In parts of 12 seasons, Van Gundy has amassed a 523-384 (.577) coaching record. The Magic reached the NBA Finals in 2009 under his leadership.
Los Angeles Clippers assistant coach Tyronn Lue will reportedly meet with Pelicans officials later this week regarding the head coaching gig, according to Wojnarowski. Lue is also tied to the Clippers' and Houston Rockets' coaching vacancies.
