Longtime Duke and Team USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski shared his thoughts on how Michael Jordan's 1992 "Dream Team" and LeBron James' 2008 "Redeem Team" would fair in a hypothetical matchup.
Krzyzewski was asked to pick a winner between the two Olympic teams on a recent episode of JJ Reddick's "The Old Man & the Three" podcast. If healthy, the bench boss believes the Dream Team would've prevailed in a best-of-seven series.
"In their prime, I mean you're talking about 11 Hall of Famers and the greatest team," Krzyzewski said. "That was the first time that the NBA came to the Olympics, and there was a visionary moment by David Stern and the NBA. It was an atomic bomb for the global world of basketball.
"Those guys were rock stars there, and they were such gentlemen. They represented us so damn well. And the NBA of the '80s built the NBA of who you are today. We didn't have a culture for USA Basketball. They brought their culture to USA Basketball for that moment, then it didn't stay after that. It was a moment in time."
Krzyzewski served as an assistant for the "Dream Team" and was head coach of the 2008 squad, winning a gold medal with both.
