Disney's Giannis biopic to begin production in 2021
Disney is moving ahead with its biopic about Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Walt Disney Studios confirmed Wednesday the development of "Greek Freak," a live-action film for Disney+ following the Antetokounmpo family's journey from undocumented Nigerian immigrants living in Greece to basketball stars. Details about the film first surfaced in November.
Production on the film is set to begin in 2021 in Greece and other locations throughout the United States, according to Deadline's Justin Kroll. Antetokounmpo will serve as an executive producer.
Casting is currently underway for actors to play Antetokounmpo at ages 13-15 and 15-18, as well as his older brother Thanasis.
