Report: Lakers interested in acquiring DeRozan from Spurs
The Los Angeles Lakers have expressed interest in acquiring DeMar DeRozan from the San Antonio Spurs, reports The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor.
Los Angeles would include Danny Green and Kyle Kuzma as part of a package for DeRozan, O'Connor adds.
DeRozan is entering the final season of his five-year, $139-million deal signed with the Toronto Raptors in July 2016. The 31-year-old's contract contains a $27.7-million player option for the upcoming 2020-21 campaign, which he's expected to opt in to.
Meanwhile, Green and Kuzma will earn nearly $19 million combined in 2020-21.
DeRozan is coming off his most efficient scoring season to date. The Compton, California, native registered a career-best 53.5% effective field goal percentage while averaging 22.1 points, 5.6 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Adding the swingman would give the Lakers another proven offensive creator to complement LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the team's quest for a second consecutive championship.
San Antonio is also looking to offload key veterans LaMarcus Aldridge and Patty Mills in addition to DeRozan, according to O'Connor.
