Report: LaMelo works out for Warriors, Hornets, Pistons
LaMelo Ball, the projected first overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft, worked out Thursday for representatives from the Golden State Warriors, Charlotte Hornets, and Detroit Pistons, sources told ESPN's Jonathan Givony.
The workout featured only Ball and was held in Southern California with head coaches and executives from the three teams in attendance, according to Givony.
Ball reportedly made a good impression during a solo workout for the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday. He hadn't scheduled in-person exercises with any teams prior to his workout with Minnesota.
The 6-foot-7 guard has reportedly held interviews with the Timberwolves, Warriors, Hornets, Pistons, and Chicago Bulls in recent weeks. Minnesota owns the top selection in next week's draft. Golden State and Charlotte are slated to pick second and third overall, respectively, while Chicago sits at No. 4.
It's unlikely Ball will still be available when Detroit's on the clock at No. 7. But Pistons general manager Troy Weaver told ESPN's Eric Woodyard last week that "moving up is definitely an option," suggesting the team could orchestrate a trade to secure a higher pick.
