Boston Celtics center Enes Kanter will exercise his $5-million player option for the upcoming season, The Athletic's Shams Charania reports.
Kanter played sparingly for the Celtics this past campaign, averaging 8.1 points and 7.4 rebounds off the bench. The Turkish big man's 16.9 minutes per game were the fewest since his rookie season in 2011-12.
In a subsequent move, the Celtics elected not to issue a qualifying offer to reserve guard Brad Wanamaker, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The 31-year-old is now set to become an unrestricted free agent.
