The Boston Celtics are finalizing a deal to hire Evan Turner as an assistant coach with a focus on player development, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Turner has logged 10 NBA seasons as a player, and he appeared in 19 games with the Atlanta Hawks during the first half of the last campaign. He was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves prior to the February deadline, but Turner never played for the club before its season was cut short due to the pandemic.
The former second overall pick previously played for the Celtics from 2014 to 2016. He's also suited up for the Portland Trail Blazers, Indiana Pacers, and Philadelphia 76ers, the team that drafted him in 2010.
